Hey beloved! I’m Sam (they/she), sovereign, soulful, and a whole lot of fun — blame my Libra Sun. And I am the founder and visionary behind The Altar of Us by Ìyá Wellness — a sanctuary for embodied healing and reclamation. I’m a storyteller and creative. Parent and dad joke aficionado. Brooklyn born with deep Southern roots — revolutionary probably should have been my middle name. But I digress.

As a Rootworker and Guide, I hold space for fellow descendants of the diaspora to explore inner sovereignty — the practice of trusting one’s body, intuition, and spiritual knowing as primary sources of guidance — and reconnect to their divine humanness, Maa. My work is rooted in deep reverence for my lineage and the Spirit of our history. 

And because it still matters to some, I hold a “degree” in Health Science and designations as a Full Spectrum Doula, Coach, Herbalist and Somatic Plant Medicine Facilitator.

My journey though postpartum awakened my calling to inner child healing and shadow work, which continue to inform my practice today. My methodical understanding of physiology, psychology, and metaphysics — combined with years dedicated to supporting childbirth — deepened my understanding of collective consciousness and illuminated my spiritual calling to walk with master plant medicine — Entheogen. 

Woven into every offering is my devotion to nurture community and steward Sankofa — “a movement for Afrikan people to reclaim and reconstruct the paradigm of World Afrikan Sovereignty” -Let the Circle Be Unbroken by Marimba Ani.

TL;DR: I’m Sam. A Mani-Gen, Rootworking, plant-whispering, inner-child-healing, cosmic doula, blending science, spirit, and ancestral spice to help folks end illusions of powerlessness and remember how to honor who we are.
